1.Describe in your group how technology can positively impact the following situation:
c.Vital Signs assessment based on touch of the tip of a client’s finger
Complete vital signs can not be achieved at this point in time through a patient’s finger tip, however technology is moving towards this. One example of how far technology has come includes blood glucose monitoring, oxygen saturation, arterial blood pressures, ecgs, evds etc. (Think star trek people!)
2. Discuss the following questions related to position statements about telehealth from CNA and CRNBC.
a. How is telehealth defined in each of these documents:
CNA: information and communication technology to deliver health services, expertise and information over distance.
CRNBC: use of communications and information technology to deliver health and health care services and information over large and small distances.
b. Describe specific examples of where telehealth is currently being used
Rural communities, such as in Northern BC and Ontario
Conferencing between disciplines and sites
EMR within Fraser Health Authority

Having instant access to medical records equals create rapid response rates by medical professionals which in turn can improve patient outcomes.
d. Identify 3 potential issues related to security, confidentiality and privacy
Security = Infiltration of internal information system by outside sources
Confidentiality= Misuse of information and inappropriate access to files
